The Bannerman Brothers (Michael & Scott) grew up listening to their father’s country and rock records and their mother’s gospel 8-tracks. They were encouraged from an early age to take music lessons (Scott on the piano and tuba and Michael on the violin and later the guitar) and they quickly learned that they loved to perform and sing together.
At the age of 16/14 the two of them formed their first band together with some high school friends playing such notable locations as Underwood, Tiverton, Ripley, Lucknow and Kincardine 🙂 Jump ahead 30 years and the boys (now with their 3rd band) have toured throughout North America headlining festivals with crowds as large as 15,000 people, they have a mantel full of various songwriting awards and accolades and they have managed to record a total of 11 albums (over 116 songs) of original material (enjoying some radio success along the way).
“It’s been a lot of fun and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything” says Michael (the older of the two) “but there is still nothing like just returning home to our roots with just the two of us sitting around, swapping stories and singing whatever comes to mind that night”.
Scott agrees “The two of us together are probably not as polished perhaps as the full band, but there is something raw, intimate and… I guess authentic about it. It’s sort of like we just invited you over to join us for an evening jam session in the family living room.”
The Bannerman Brothers will be performing an acoustical evening featuring some of their original material, along with songs from their youth on SATURDAY, APRIL 29th at The Kingsbridge Hall in Kingsbridge. Note: There will probably be a few stories and bad jokes thrown in as well for good measure.
Admission by Donation. Refreshments Available. Kingsbridge Centre is wheelchair accessible.
